'Hollaia' Sangiovese Cabernet Sauvignon

The "HOLLAIA" Sangiovese Cabernet Sauvignon blend (a play on the Super Tuscan wines such as Sassicaia, Ornellaia and Solaia), was first released in 2003 and has since made a name for itself internationally with the 2005 impressing Jancis Robinson as her wine of the week a few years ago.

The blend of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon is altered each year to maintain its early drinking, food friendly style. It is a wine of intrigue and generosity displaying both sweet fruit and the more savoury flavours typical of Sangiovese.

The Hollaia matches perfectly with a vast number of food styles, but is especially tasty with Ragu alla Bolognese and similar dishes. Drink now or cellar for a 3-5 years.

2008 Vintage Reviews

'Good crimson hue; sangiovese now accounts for 70% (previously 50%) of the blend; savoury black fruits and sour cherry have the expected structure, especially the extended tannins of the sangiovese. Screwcap.' 90 points
