The wine is made from a selection of the best Shiraz from the Red Ridge vineyard at Wrattonbully. The vineyard was was planted in 1998 and boasts similar shallow terra rossa soils over limestone to Coonawarra, but is marginally warmer resulting in earlier ripening.
The Wrattonbully Shiraz displays the rare combination or power and elegance. There is an abundance of sweet Shiraz fruit flavours, but the wine retains a good balance and surprisingly supple tannins. Flavours and aromas of honeysuckle, passionfruit skins and roses underline the complexity of the wine and are in harmony with the primary black fruits of the variety.
