Hollick Nectar wins People's Choice Award

Hollick wines are proud to announce that the 2010 Hollick 'The Nectar' has been named as the People’s Choice in the Intercontinental Adelaide South Australian Wine of the Year Awards in the Class for Sweet Wines.

The wine of the year awards are a nationally recognised event held since 1987, run and hosted by Intercontinental Adelaide. The event is open to all South Australian Wineries.

The professional judging panel consists of a mixture of professional wine judges and wine makers whilst the consumer panel is collated from successful entrants in an Advertiser run essay competition.

The 2010 ‘The Nectar’ is made from a select combination of Coonawarra Riesling and balanced with individual parcels of Chardonnay and Semillon from the Wilgha vineyard. Botrytis Cinerea, the mould known as “Noble Rot”, occurs naturally in the Hollick Coonawarra vineyards and is a significant contributor to the concentrated incredibly sweet and flavourful fruit required for making a wine of this style.

Winemaker Matt Caldersmith was on hand to accept the award at the Black Tie Gala presentation dinner on Friday evening, 2nd September.
